Optatec 2018 Accompanied by Congress

Even More Technical Information, a More In-Depth Exchange of Know-How and Less Legwork at the Leading Trade fair

Collaboration partner SPIE Europe will accompany the upcoming Optatec international trade fair for optical technologies, components and systems with its “Optical Systems Design” congress from the 15th through the 17th of May, 2018. Exhibitors and visitors alike will thus profit from an enhanced exchange of information and more extensive networking.

As project manager of the globally significant, leading Optatec trade fair organised by private event promoters P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG which will take place once again at the international Frankfurt Exhibition Centre, Karen Waldow is able to announce highly encouraging figures for the industry meet. The number of exhibitors has already reached the final level achieved two years ago. More than half of the participating companies come from outside of Germany – currently from just under 30 countries. And thus the upcoming Optatec will demonstrate a high degree of internationalism, which will also be reflected by the large number of international visitors. In 2016, more than 5600 expert visitors from 55 countries attended Optatec, which is held in Frankfurt once every two years.

Additional Trade Fair Benefit: World-Class Supplementary Program

“Developments in the field of optics are advancing rapidly”, states project manager Waldow. This is one of the reasons why Optatec continuously reinvents itself and has to keep pace with market dynamics. In order to merge knowledge from the economy, the companies and actual practice, the trade fair in Frankfurt is always accompanied by a world-class supplementary program. Schall trade fair promoters will pull yet another ace of their sleeve this year with the accompanying congress. Together with collaboration partner SPIE Europe, this part of the trade fair program will further advance the exchange of information and bring together all internationally renowned experts, users and scientists. The events target groups include technicians, engineers, scientists and managers in the field of optical systems. “The registration figures for the presentations make it apparent that we will match or exceed the visitor numbers achieved in recent years”, says Karin Burger, congress director at SPIE Europe, who also indicates that cooperation with the highly significant Optatec trade fair is very exciting and beneficial for exhibitors as well as visitors. “We hope to maximize the networking experience by means of this collaboration”, says Burger. The SPIE employee sees further advantages as well, for example less legwork and direct contact amongst experts and exhibitors, as well as the opportunity of discussing possible collaborations.

Time-Tested Highlights Once Again in 2018

In addition to all of the new features, the trade fair for optical technologies, components and systems will also place importance on time-tested highlights, for example with regard to the supplementary program. The coveted exhibitor forum, as well as the training and research technology park entitled “Study Photonics – Universities Present Themselves” which will be held once again in 2018, can be mentioned here. Amongst other benefits, a student/pupil day will attract new visitors and up-and-coming qualified personnel to the trade fair thanks to a guided tour of the event offered by students.

The Start-Up Challenge held by collaboration partner OptecNet can also be mentioned within this context. The competition provides young companies with the opportunity of presenting outstanding business models, as well as innovative technologies and service concepts. The three highest ranking competitors are distinguished and promoted by several companies and exhibitors. 2016 Start-Up Challenge winner GATTAquant GmbH will be on hand this year with its own trade fair booth. Last but not least, the SPECTARIS industry association for optical, medical and mechatronics technologies will augment Optatec with a panel discussion on the occasion of the Day of Light.
